The minute I heard the phrase “spiritual awakening,” I coveted one. Even though I was clueless about what it was, that illusive experience became an obsession.
I soon realized that spiritual awakenings are something that words can’t describe. And all the books I read had different “methods” claiming to offer them.
So, I affirmed; I prayed; I begged the Universe hoping that someone or something was listening. I started to understand that spiritual awakenings are complex, life-changing experiences, unique for each person. And, that many spend lifetimes searching for one. Often to no avail.
I gave up reading descriptions, researching, and begging, deciding to trust the process.
In the beginning of my spiritual quest, I had tasted some of the common spiritual awakening signs. Like a full-on out-of-body experience, a feeling of connectedness with all life, discovering my True Purpose. My concern with material possessions had waned, and I was living in pretty much consistent peace and joy from within.
The thing was those states refused to permanently stick. I thought I was doing something incorrectly. Believed I was failing at spirituality. Was convinced that others knew The Spiritual Awakening Secret, but I had been left out of the loop for some reason.
Finally, after years of inner work along with teaching others spirituality, I accepted that my awakening was happening in subtle ways. No drum rolls for this devoted seeker. Awakening was just taking its sweet time like most everything in my life seems to.
What I Learned
Once I accepted that, I devised some ways to help spur along the awakening process. First and foremost is to be sincerely open to it. Make sure to not have expectations as to how it will look or feel, or when it will happen. There may be no drama at all. In fact, you may not even realize it happened or is happening.
Also, there are things you can strive for that unlock the door to awakening. That door may open a small crack at a time, but eventually it opens. Especially when you challenge yourself to discover your true self by letting go of pretenses, false beliefs, impure motives and suppressed, subconscious guilt (BTW, the intention of my Perfect Life Awakening teachings).
Doing that gives your spirit a kick in the butt, confirming you’re committed and know you deserve to awaken. Keep in mind, your Higher Consciousness knows your Perfect Timing which may not coincide with when you think it should be.
Spiritual awakening doesn’t always start as a pleasant experience. I’ve noticed that for many it’s triggered by traumatic occurrences. In fact, near-death experiences are some of the biggest catalysts for spiritual enlightenment.
As I always say, whatever it takes.
From what I’ve seen while working with thousands, there are things that may happen from spiritual awakenings. Just so you know, here are some:
- Your belief system changes.
You start admitting that what you thought was true isn’t. The things you’ve learned and lived by for years are beginning to change. You think outside of your own comfort zone. What’s more, you’re letting go of the lessons that haven’t served you. You’re starting to see the world with new eyes.
- You crave discovering more of yourself.
There’s a new sense of curiosity in you. You find yourself wanting to delve deeper into self-discovery, wellness, and personal development. You’re more open to things you wouldn’t have tried in the past. Spiritual awakening is about becoming the best version of yourself. So, you are drawn to all the things that lead you to your best self.
- You’re interested in joy and love and less in material possessions.
Your goals and desires are starting to change. You become less interested in accumulating material things. In fact, you start letting go of things, wanting to live a simpler, more meaningful life. You’re realizing that true happiness doesn’t depend on how many things you own but how you own yourself.
- You’re experiencing sadness, guilt, and deeper emotions.
The road to spiritual awakening is not smooth sailing. Truthfully, it could be riddled with inner turmoil. Because you start questioning your belief systems, your past choices, your current relationships, and even your career, you can’t help but feel sadness, guilt, and confusing emotions.
It’s a process of letting go, moving on, and having a new outlook. It may be difficult. But try to embrace it. Feel every emotion – even the negative ones. This “release” is necessary. It’s healthy. It’s a completion that will allow you to achieve a lighter, cleansed sense of self. Important: Take action to clean up any areas of guilt that show up.
- There’s more synchronicity.
Because you are starting to witness and accept that everything happens for a reason, you trust the process as it unfolds. You start letting go of your desire to control what’s happening around you and you feel supported in life.
- Compassion arrives.
You become less self-absorbed and more attuned to others. Your spiritual awakening has allowed you to be more connected and attuned to everything and everyone, allowing you to feel compassion and true caring. For others as well as yourself.
- You feel more alive.
You feel more present, experiencing life with more realness. What you want out of life is more meaningful, coming from knowing the important contribution you chose to be here to make. Fear of failure and of death are no longer in charge.
- You want to be involved in something bigger.
You know that you can do more and you desire to step up in some way, take action, make a bigger difference. Your deep sense of purpose has you wanting to make a real change in the world, transforming from fear to love.
- You become more aware of your negativity.
Things you do that you never noticed or judged you find yourself annoyed by. You become more aware of the negative implications of your lifestyle and choices. You find yourself wanting to make personal changes and they may feel daunting. You are in the process of purifying. And, it’s hard to do certain things you used to do when you are conscious.
- Love from within.
Because of deep inner programming, most people struggle with needing validation and love from external places. Healthy and meaningful relationships stem from loving yourself fully. Spiritual awakening means you know you are enough for yourself. When you are awake, you don’t seek love, because you know you are love. Then, love is magnetized to you effortlessly.
YOUR LIFE IS ABOUT TO SHIFT, GUARANTEED
When you start this awakening journey, things change in unimaginable, unexpected, and often miraculous ways. Once your spirit has been kicked in the butt, nothing will be the same.
Take it from one who’s been and is there: Your spirit won’t let up. It wants you to know the incredible feeling of being 100% alive, capable, confident, healed, and fearlessly attracting all you desire and deserve. It wants you to accomplish what you came here to accomplish; to never, ever give up.
You may not be in constant bliss, but you will absolutely know that the universe is working through and for you.
